Confessions from an Esthetician
I must confess: I am guilty of equating science with technology. In my mid-thirties but looking like my mid-twenties, I've been putting my hopes in technology to keep it that way. Even though I eat organic and practice yoga, my priority is not organic skincare products, it's products that get results. So I was quite surprised to find out that the new Pangea Organics facial care line does just that.
While most skincare companies are turning toward acids, abrasives, and synthetic ingredients that irritate, inflame, and potentially reduce the overall health of the user, Pangea Organics utilizes nature's pharmacopeia to produce healthy, glowing skin. And they do it with a neat marriage between the science of herbology and the use of essential oils that is millennia old, and the newer sciences of physiology of the skin and modern day chemistry.
The facial care line is very simple: cleanser, toner, and cream (moisturizer). It takes less than 5 minutes to use the entire system. The ingredients are quite simple and easy to recognize (no long chemical names). That is why it is so surprising to find out what these ingredients really do.
For example, sweet orange, found in the toner and cream for dry skin (what I use), is anti-bacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and astringent. The high content of bioflavonoids helps to strengthen capillaries and tissues. IT also stimulates new cell growth and restores the skin's acid mantle, just to name a few of its qualities. Lavender, in the toner and cleanser, is highly cleansing and antiseptic. It is also cell-regenerating, prevents wrinkles, and is beneficial to all skin types. I knew I always liked lavender for some reason!
